What is small business Saturday? Founded by American Express, small Business Saturday was first established in the U.S in 2010 to encourage people to shop at small, independent businesses, promote consumer spending and economic recovery after the 2008 financial crisis.

The first Small Business Saturday in the UK was on December 7, 2013. This year occurs in the UK on the first Saturday of December each year, this year it will fall on 7th December 2014.
